How does the pricing work?
Last updated: June 13, 2025
Our pricing model is designed for clarity and control, scaling directly with your needs. The model is built on a pay-as-you-go basis for the resources you consume, which are divided into two categories: IDE Resources and Service Resources.
Your total monthly cost is the sum of your IDE resource plan and the cost of all your running Service resources. The "Summary" panel in your workspace provides a real-time calculation of your estimated monthly cost, ensuring you are always aware of your spending.
IDE Resources: Your development environment
The IDE Resource is your dedicated, cloud-based Integrated Development Environment. This is the environment where you write, build, and test your code. You select a single plan for your IDE based on the computational power your development workflow requires.
The available IDE resource plans and their monthly costs are:
Micro: 1 vCPU, 2 GiB Memory, 2 GiB Storage - $1/m
Boost: 2 vCPUs, 4 GiB Memory, 25 GiB Storage - $2/m
Pro: 8 vCPUs, 16 GiB Memory, 100 GiB Storage - $8/m
T4 GPU: Dedicated GPU, 8 vCPUs, 16 GiB Memory, 100 GiB Storage - $50/m
The price for your IDE resource is a flat monthly fee. This resource is persistent, ensuring your development environment is always available.
Service Resources: Your deployed applications
When you are ready to run an application, you deploy it as a Service. Each Service runs on its own set of resources, configured independently from your IDE. This allows you to select the most cost-effective plan for each specific application.
When adding a service to a stage (e.g., "Run"), you configure its resources:
Plan: Select a resource plan for the service. The cost is calculated per replica of that service. For example, the Pro plan for a service costs $8/month.
Replicas: You can run multiple instances (replicas) of your service for high availability and load balancing. The total cost for a service is its plan price multiplied by the number of replicas.
Example: If you deploy a service on the "Pro" plan ($8/m) and set the replica count to two, the total cost for that specific service will be $16/month ($8/m * 2 replicas).
The difference: IDE vs. Service Resources
Understanding the distinction between IDE and Service resources is key to managing your costs effectively. They serve different purposes and are billed differently.
IDE Resources function as your personal, persistent development workbench.
Purpose: This is your dedicated environment for writing, building, and testing code.
Lifecycle & billing: It's a single, continuous resource for your workspace, billed as a flat monthly fee for the selected plan (e.g., Pro IDE at $8/m).
Service Resources act as the engines for your live applications.
Purpose: This is the computational power used to run your deployed applications for your end-users.
Lifecycle & billing: These resources are created when you deploy a service and destroyed when you stop it. Billing is calculated per service by multiplying its plan price by the number of replicas (e.g., a service on the Pro plan with 2 replicas costs $16/m).
This separation provides significant flexibility. You can use a powerful T4 GPU plan for your IDE to handle demanding machine learning tasks, while deploying the resulting application on a cost-effective Micro service plan.
